Danielle Simmons grew up in a small town in California's Sierra Nevada Foothills. A voracious reader from an early age, she began writing poetry and short stories in elementary school, and continued that passion throughout high school and college. She studied literature, creative writing and communications at University of the Pacific, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. She currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, sons and two cats, where she is a communications executive by day, writer by night, and tireless advocate of local animal shelters and rescue organizations.
While her passion is fiction, Danielle has been creating content for more than two decades, writing speeches, op-eds, guest posts, and feature stories for executives and global brands. Her writing has appeared in outlets across the country, including Forbes and BuzzFeed, as well as her column about parenting on Modern Mom.
In her spare time, Danielle can be found binge-watching Amazon and Netflix, introducing her kids to the 80s, listening to music, and reading. She wants to hike more, but will settle for making it through a cup of coffee while it is still hot. She is a fan of comic books, the supernatural and is an ace at trivia. Her favorite time of year is the Fall, she loves pumpkins, elephants, and the rain, and dreams of one day owning a pumpkin farm, tea shop or retirement home for rescue animals (in no particular order).
